Driver - Grand River Transit Flex Pilot Program (Full-Time and Part-Time Hours)
Grand River Transit and RideCo have teamed up to launch a microtransit pilot program in Northwest Waterloo this September 2018, and we are looking for four qualified and enthusiastic drivers to be the face of the service! As a driver, you will subcontract with RideCo using your own vehicle and work shifted hours from Monday to Friday. Weekly hours range from 10 to 30 hours per week, and the service runs on weekdays between 6 am to 6 pm. You are likely to work the same shifts every day, but this is not a guarantee – you will have at least one week’s notice for your shifts.
The hourly rate is $18. The small region of service is bound in Northwest Waterloo by Erbsville Rd, Laurelwood Dr, Fischer-Hallman Rd and Keats Way. Drivers are expected to dedicate themselves exclusively to the GRT Flex program for the duration of their shift.
Drivers will be trained to recognize acceptable transfers from GRT fixed-route buses, and may be expected to give transfers to those without smartphones for transfer onto GRT fixed-route buses.
The ideal driver enjoys interacting with passengers, has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working with seniors.
Please note this is a pilot program expected to last 9 months. We expect our drivers to provide advance notice if they are unable to work the expected shifts. Continued failure to do so may result in expulsion from the program.
