(San Bernardino, CA) For the first time, Omnitrans customers in the Bloomington community are able to order their transit ride on-demand, as the agency introduced its third OmniRide microtransit zone last week.

Omnitrans will celebrate the launch of OmniRide service with a ribbon-cutting event for the public at the Bloomington Branch Library on Thursday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. (invitation attached). Featured speakers will include Omnitrans Board of Directors Chairman and Montclair Mayor John Dutrey and San Bernardino County Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.

“It is exciting to expand microtransit service into Bloomington to offer new, personalized service to the community,” said Omnitrans CEO/General Manager Erin Rogers. “Omnitrans is working to meet the challenge of our region’s evolving mobility needs.”

Using a free mobile app, OmniRide On-Demand powered by RideCo, customers reserve a trip to and from any location in the OmniRide Bloomington service area. Destinations include Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Kaiser Fontana, Bloomington and Citrus High Schools and Agua Mansa logistics employers. The app will direct customers to the nearest virtual stop and arrive for pickup within 15 minutes before proceeding to their requested drop-off point, similar to Uber or Lyft service.

OmniRide service is open to the public and vehicles are accessible to people with disabilities. Service is available Monday — Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For the first six months of service, OmniRide Bloomington fare will be $2 per single ride ($1 for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities), and comes with a day pass for Omnitrans fixed route service. Customers have the option of paying by credit card when making their reservation or paying cash onboard.
