Cochrane, AB provides transit access for everyone with first Canadian city-wide on-demand service.

Cochrane, AB

About this case study

Since 2011, the population of Cochrane, Alberta in Canada has been growing at a rate of nearly 10% per year. As the town has grown, the need for public transit has become clear. Instead of turning to an expensive and often inefficient traditional fixed-route system, the town of Cochrane engaged Rideco to design and operate a customized on-demand microtransit system for residents. This award-winning service is one of the first city-wide on-demand services in North America and has seen significant uptake since it launched in 2019.

In this case study you'll learn:

  • How the town of Cochrane is providing transit access to >90% of its residents using RideCo's on-demand microtransit system
  • The benefits of a city-wide on-demand transit system versus a traditional fixed-route system
  • Key metrics and details from the project
